Overview

Meaningful participation in decisions that affect one's life and livelihood is a fundamental right. Faida Initiative is committed to ensuring that communities have a strong and unified voice in matters of governance, policy-making, and resource allocation.

Our Approach

We believe that effective governance requires active and informed citizen participation. Our approach combines civic education, capacity building, and strategic advocacy to empower communities to engage meaningfully with decision-makers. We work to create spaces for dialogue between communities and government institutions, build the capacity of community members to articulate their needs and advocate for their rights, and support inclusive and accountable governance at all levels.

Key Program Areas

Civic Education and Voter Awareness

Informed citizens are the foundation of democratic governance. We conduct civic education programs that equip community members with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities, the structure and functions of government, and the importance of participation in democratic processes.

Strengthening Citizen Participation

Participation in governance goes beyond voting. We work to strengthen citizen participation in decision-making processes at all levels, from community meetings to county planning forums. Our initiatives include supporting community members to attend and contribute to public participation forums.

Advocacy for Equitable Resource Allocation

Resources are never sufficient to meet all needs, and decisions about resource allocation have profound impacts on communities. We advocate for equitable distribution of resources that prioritizes the needs of marginalized and vulnerable populations.

Inclusive Leadership and Representation

Marginalized and vulnerable groups, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and minority communities, are often excluded from leadership positions and decision-making processes.

Legal Literacy and Rights Awareness

Knowledge of legal rights is essential for effective advocacy.
